THE DAWN OF A BEAUTIFUL NEW DAY.
Once again, God blesses His creation and tells them to
"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth." When God created the earth He made
everything beautiful and good. Man is the one who corrupted the earth and changed God's beautiful
creation to evil. Man took the good and made it bad, man took the beauty and made it ugly. Now
God has washed all that ugliness away and He gives man a chance to make a fresh start. He takes
the only righteous man He could find on the face of the earth and puts him and his family in a
safe place and sets them afloat on a sea of cleansing. When they emerged from the ark all God's
creation was fresh and wonderful again. But God knew that the thoughts of mans heart were evil
continually! That is why He had to send His Son to die for our sins and redeem us. Each man
would have to find his own way to salvation and each would be judged on his own merits for God
knew his perfect world would again become corrupt with mans evil ways.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PRIVATE SIN! Verses 19-23 tell a sad story. It seems Noah began to be a husbandman and planted a vineyard. He became drunk on some of his wine and took off all his clothes. Thus, Noah wound up just as Adam who, sinning in his own garden, found himself naked and ashamed. Noah's son, Ham, discovered his father lying in his tent, drunk and naked, and told his two brothers. In telling his brothers, Ham was making light of his father and not giving him his due honor. This is a serious breach of etiquette in the Middle East, even today! I wonder what they think of the way most American children talk to their parents? Shem and Japheth honored their father by covering his nakedness without looking upon it. DEUT. 27:16 "CURSED BE HE THAT SETTETH LIGHT BY HIS FATHER OR MOTHER." When Noah finally wakes up and learns what happened, he curses Ham through his son, Canaan. Canaan was to be a servant unto his brothers. We actually see this happen when the Israelites later reach Canaan. FOOD FOR THOUGHT
1) Do you believe in Capital Punishment? If not, when do you
think the command God gave to Noah ceased to be in effect?
