You won't find very many good men in the bible. David was a good man. Acts 13:22 says: "And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will." But then David later committed adultry and had a man murdered to cover it up. Moses was a good man but he disobeyed God and was not allowed to enter the promised land. Paul was a good man but he started out killing Christians.

We cannot be good by ourselves but when we become washed with the blood of Christ, we receive His righteousness and then we can become good like the Father.

1 Thessalonians 5:15 says we are to follow that which is good - and not just among ourselves, or among our friends and relatives, but with all people. Some people are harder to be good to than others. But God commanded us to be good to everyone. Even our enemies!

Matthew 7:18 says a "good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit." If we have the goodness of God inside us, we won't be bearing evil fruits. The goodness of God should literally be shining out of us for others to see. It is this goodness dwelling in us that we are to extend to others. We should be a joy and a pleasure for others to be around. That is the goodness that is a fruit of the Spirit.
