MATTHEW 22:35-39
"Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

There is not enough time or space here to print all the wonderful scriptures on love but I have tried to list some of the best ones.

  • I John 4:7 Love one another.
  • Colossians 3:19 Husbands love your wives.
  • Titus 2:4 Wives love your husbands and children.
  • Matthew 22:39 Love your neighbor.
  • Proverbs 17:7 Love your friends.
  • Luke 6:27 Love your enemies.

That pretty much covers everbody, doesn't it?

Some of the people you know may not be very lovable but these are the ones who usually need to be loved the most! With all the thefts, divorces, custody battles, pornography, child abuse, racial groups, hate crimes, rapes, school shootings and murders, the need for love is greater today than ever before. If everyone in the world loved as they should, there would be no need for military force, police or neighborhood watches. This love must start somewhere. Why not let it start with you?
We must really work on love relationships. Sometimes we just take it for granted that others know we love them but most people need to be told or shown. How can we do this? Here are a few ways you might like to try.

  • Flowers
  • A card
  • A phone call
  • A small gift, such as a book or something
else you know might interest them.

And don't forget the simplest way of all...just TELL them often...perhaps accompanied by a hug. The important thing is that they know you are thinking about them. Knowing that will make them feel loved!
Work on your loving relationship with your spouse, your children, your parents and your neighbors. I know it is hard to love some people, but we must try to love everyone. I challenge you to show someone you love them today!

I asked the Lord, "Please tell me what I can do
To show the world the love I have for you.
Lord, let me teach and Your sacred Word proclaim,
And let me spread abroad your Holy Name."

I heard Him say, "The greatest thing you can do,
The most important job I have for you,
The highest calling given from above,
The greatest thing that you can do is love."

Not satisfied, I went to God again.
I wanted so to do some great thing for Him.
I thought of all the great men of God I knew.
And so, I prayed, "Let ME do great things, too."

Again He said, "I have a great job for you.
It is the greatest job that you could do.
The highest calling ever given from above,
The greatest thing that you can do is love!"
