MATTHEW 6:9-13, 26:36-44
"Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil;
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
There are thousands of Psychiatrists making millions of dollars a year for just listening. If
only the people seeking counseling knew that God will listen for nothing! Sometimes a person
may have a deep rooted problem and not be able to deal with it. I am not suggesting that
seeking Phychiatric help is wrong. I am asking, "have you tried talking to God?"
I have heard people say they did not know how to pray. First, let's define prayer. One
dictionary gives this definition: "A spiritual communion with God." Praying is as easy as
talking. Jesus gives us a sample prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. He tells us to begin our prayer by
calling on the Father. He then suggests we ask God for our needs and ask for forgiveness of
our sins. He also says we should ask God to help us to forgive others for sinning against us
and to deliver us from evil. We then need to tell God Who He Is!!! He is the King of Glory,
The Great I Am, The Alpha and Omega, The Ruler of the universe. His is the Kingdom and the
Power and the Glory. We need to always glorify God when we pray. Tell Him how Powerful and
Glorious He is. Wives need to be told they are loved. When we dress up, we want someone to
notice we look nice. Men like to be told they are strong and needed. Parents need to be told
"I love you" and children need hugs of reassurance. God, also, likes to be reminded of our
love and need of Him. Tell Him how much He means to you the next time you pray. Don't just
"unload" on Him! Then we are to close our prayer with the word "Amen", or "so be it."
Many times a person seeking psychiatric help simply needs someone to talk to. Even Jesus, in
His weakest hour on earth needed someone besides His disciples and friends to talk to. He went
to The Father! (Matt. 26:36-44) A Psychiatrist can listen and give advise but, after all, he
is only human and has the same human weaknesses we do. But God has supreme, supernatural power
to right the wrongs and take away the hurts! Talk to Him in the morning and at night before
bed and all during the day. He is waiting by the phone for your call.
Our Father Who art in heaven,
This I'm about to pray
Is to tell You all that's happened
To this Your child today.
I battled with the devil,
But, guess what, he never won!
'Cause when the going got too tough
I sent him to Your Son!
I Didn't tell the truth once,
But before it was too late,
I went back and found the person,
And told the story straight!
I got mad, flew off the handle;
Said some things to my best friend.
But then, I apologized.
I told him I had sinned.
I'm glad we had this chat Lord.
This is all for now, I think.
Talking to You really helps me,
And...it's cheaper than a Shrink!
