Daniel 4:37 "Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase."
Who doesn't like to be bragged on? Everyone needs a pat on the back now and
then but many of us get our feelings hurt if other Christians don't tell us we are doing a good
job or that they appreciate us. Shame on us! Any glory received for doing God's work
should go to God and any proud looks should come from God.
"The king spake, and said, is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?"
The next verse says while the words were still in his mouth he heard the voice of God recalling his great kingdom from him. It took living like a wild animal to make him "praise and extol and honor the king of heaven."
PSALM 147:1 "Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely."
David believed that giving praise to God was so important he began the last five Psalms with the words "Praise ye the Lord." One of the six things God hates in Proverbs chapter 6 is a proud look. There is nothing wrong with being proud of what God accomplishes through you as long as you give all the glory and praise to Him. Remember the last words of King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4. It cost him a lot to learn that "those that walk in pride He is able to abase."
So, how do we find opportunities to praise God? Try some of these.
Praise ye the Lord.
