DANIEL 6:10 "Now when Daniel knew that the
writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward
Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his
God, as he did aforetime. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God."
I THESSALONIANS 5:17 "Pray without ceasing."
Daniel prayed three times a day. No matter what, he prayed every day at morning, noon and
again at night. His enemies could not find any fault against Daniel but they knew about his
prayer life, so they went to the King and talked him into signing a decree proclaiming that
anyone caught praying to any other person or image except him for thirty days would be thrown
into a den of lions. Daniel knew about the decree but he went home, knelt down in front of
his window as he did every day, and began to pray. Even though he knew it could have cost him
his life, he prayed anyway!
Have you been praying for something for a long time?
Are you about to give up? Christians can never, ever stop praying! Sometimes we feel like
God isn't going to answer our prayers so we may as well stop praying. Maybe our faith gets a
little weak. And sometimes we just let others shame us into believing we do not have
enough faith. Once, several years ago, I allowed this to happen to me. A minister preached a
message about faith saying that if we were sick and really had faith in God, we would
be anointed and be free from our illness. I didn't really feel like God was speaking
to me to be anointed but I went forward anyway. I was anointed but I was not healed.
At first I felt that it was my fault, that I did not have enough faith in God to be
healed. I asked my pastor about it and he reminded me that the apostle Paul had prayed for
healing but God had not healed him and he was known for his great faith. And then, too, God
does not always answer prayer according to our time table. He does things in His own
way and in His own time! The bible tells us to "pray without ceasing." That means
all the time,
no matter what. Just because someone isn't healed when you think they should be
doesn't give you the right to stop praying for them. Just because a loved one whom you have
been praying for isn't saved within a certain amount of time, doesn't mean you should stop
praying for them. Just because God has not answered a prayer you have been praying for ten
years, doesn't mean you should stop praying.
Prayer is the most important aspect of
a believer's life. Without prayer we have no connection to God. Without prayer we have no
hope. Without prayer our souls will starve and die. You can't put a time limit on God to
answer your prayers. You just have to keep believing that He is there and He is listening and
He will answer you eventually. And even if His answer is no, you can't let it
stop you from praying for other important issues in your life. Just ask Him for your needs,
expect Him to supply them, and believe He will do what is best and He won't disappoint you!
I hope you all have a great week, and remember,
even Jesus prayed!
