I THESSALONIANS 2:4 "But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts."
PSALM 7:9 "Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins."
PROVERBS 17:3 "The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts."

[devotion bar]

I had a set back a few weeks ago and I've been struggling with a decision. As most of you know, the Go Network where all my Weekly Devotions and Bible Study Pages were archived has been down for quite a while. I have had several asking why they couldn't access these sites. I'm sorry to tell you that all of the Devotions, Bible Studies, Friendship Greetings, Background Sets and Midi files are gone! The Go Network wiped out everything I had, 2 1/2 years of work, without warning. I found this out after writing to Go.com. They said they were doing a transition and had done away with personal sites. I was devastated. I have lost over 400 pages.

I had about decided to just quit. All of my files are scattered and unorganized and I knew I would never be able to put everything back like it was. What else could I do but just give up and quit? What would you do? I have lost sleep, and actually been nauseated over this loss. It is as if a huge chunk of my life just disappeared. As I was struggling to make the conscience decision to give in to my depression and throw in the proverbial towel, this thought came to me:

What if this is a test?

I remembered a devotion I wrote a while back, PASS OR FAIL, about "tests" Christians have in their lives. I found that devotion on a disc and read it over and over again. My own words came back to pierce my heart.

All through the bible we find people who God tested.
In Genesis 22 God tested Abraham's obedience by asking him to offer his son as a sacrifice. Abraham passed.
In Numbers 13 He tested the faith of the 10 spies that Joshua sent to spy out Canaan. Eight failed, two passed (Num. 26:65)
In Matthew 26:73-75 He tested Peter's love, Peter failed and wept. Peter was allowed to take the test over many times after that and he passed each time (see Acts 12).
In Matthew 27:1-5 He tested Judas' love, he failed and when he realized that he had failed Jesus, he repented and killed himself.
What if this time He is testing me? What if He allowed this to happen to test my obedience, to see just how devoted I am to His work? You see, God told me to write years ago. I had been writing devotions and poems for a long time before I started putting them on the internet. So now, do I just quit because I've suffered a setback? Do I just quit because I've lost nearly all of 2 1/2 years work? I don't want to be like Judas, I don't want to fail! So...

I think I'll start over!

So if you have bookmarked any of my old pages, your links won't work. I now have my own design domain and will be putting my devotions and Bible Studies here so I will not be at the whim of a Network again. Check the INDEX often as I will be adding pages here almost daily. I'm in the mood to build and I plan to "Work 'Till Jesus Comes!"

I would like to share the words of a song with you this week. They have helped me so much and I hope they will speak to you as they have to me. I had something heartbreaking happen to my family last week and it has affected us all! I have prayed and prayed and asked God "WHY" this had to be. Last weekend, while I was traveling to Nashville, I was praying and God spoke to my heart through this song. I was listening to a tape when the words began to sink in I realized this was God's message to me...I played the song over and over until I had the words memorzied. I guess other drivers who passed me thought I was crazy as I drove down I40 praying and singing and crying my way to Nashville. I couldn't find the midi file but I hope the words are a blessing to you.

REST IN HIM

You've labored far too long
Without a hand to hold or arm to lean on.
You lie awake at night
'Cause pain has gripped your mind and peace is so far gone.
And you question can I walk another mile
When you don't think you have a friend.
But when it seems you walk alone just look around and you'll find Jesus
Where He's always been!

Rest in Him
And you'll be safe and sound
Just lay your burden down
And wrap His love around you.

Rest In Him
Don't get lost in the sorrow
There's hope for your tomorrow
And you can try again.
Right now,
Just rest in Him.

The struggles of the day
Have shattered all your dreams and no one seems to care.
The pieces of your heart
That life has torn apart are scattered everywhere.
Then you hear a gentle whisper saying,
"Come to me there's comfort for your weary soul."
So just take a leap of faith and fall into His loving arms
And He will make you whole.

Rest in Him
And you'll be safe and sound
Just lay your burden down
And wrap His love around you.

Rest In Him
Don't get lost in the sorrow
There's hope for your tomorrow
And you can try again.
Right now,
Just rest in Him.

[GOD BLESS]

Next time something devastating happens to you and you decide to give up and quit be careful! "This may be a test!"

P.S.

It has been three years since I wrote this devotion and a lot has happened. The company I set up my "then new" domain with made promises they did not keep so I have, yet again, had to move my site. This has been a tremendous undertaking and, once again, I almost gave up. But the emails and encouragement from readers along with the words of this song and strength from the Lord has kept me going. I hope everyone has found the new site and I hope the devotions, Bible Studies, and poems you find here will help you in some way!

LOVE,
MEME
