Hebrews 35-39
"35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."
What do you do when everything in your life seems to be going wrong? Where do you go? Who do you turn to? An alcoholic
will turn to his bottle, a drug addict to the needle. Christians must turn to God. God won’t always take away
our problems but He will always give us strength to face them head on and get through them and He has promised to go
through them with us! We begin to get in trouble when we ”cast away our confidence”. We ”have
need of patience”. Let me tell you what a lady said to me a couple of weeks ago. We had just met for the first time and
the subject of health came up. I mentioned that I have Fibromyalgia and she said, ”I used to have that but God healed me
from it. Maybe you just don’t have enough faith.” I didn’t have enough time right then to get into the subject of my faith
and God’s purposes with this lady but believe me I don’t have Fibromyalgia because of a lack of faith! I don’t know why I
do have Fibromyalgia or any of the other health issues I’m facing but I can assure you it is not because of a
lack of faith!
God will not always take our problems away no matter how much faith we have. Our trials make us stronger and draw us
closer to God. Sometimes our afflictions are not even for our own good, God may be using them to help someone
else. We can’t ever hope to know the mind of God. Your flat tire may be keeping you from a terrible accident on down the
road. Your bad day today may be preparing you for a terrible week in a month from now. And then you may just think
it’s a bad day, it might could have been ten times worse if God had not been watching out for you! We must live by faith, we
must be patient and wait on God. We can't draw back, we must keep on going. The word quit doesn't exist in the
Christian's vocabulary. I don't know about you but for me there is nothing to draw back to! I must keep living for
God, for God is all there is!
Many times when everything seems to be going wrong we allow fear to fill our heart with sorrow. We become so wrapped up
in the bad times we are having we fail to see how well off we really are. We fail to give thanks for all the good things in our
lives. I refuse to sit and feel sorry for myself because I have a few ailments. I don’t resent the fact that I have afflictions, I take
them to God. If He doesn’t take them away I just plead the blood and trust the work that mercy does. There’s no power
greater than His love. Though fear may try to fill my heart with sorrow, take hope from my tomorrow, when it does - I plead
the blood!
I PLEAD THE BLOOD
Sometimes darkness overwhelms me,
Blinding me ‘till I can’t see.
Storm clouds gather, strong winds threaten
To try and take this faith from me.
But when I feel afraid,
I take my stand and by His grace,
I plead the blood and trust the work that mercy does
There’s no power greater than His love.
Though fear may try to fill my heart with sorrow,
Take hope from my tomorrow, when it does
I plead the blood.
You may be wounded; you may be broken,
Hopelessness is all you feel.
All around you storm clouds gather,
But soon He whispers peace be still.
But when you feel afraid,
Just take your stand and by His grace,
Just plead the blood and trust the work that mercy does
There’s no power greater than His love
Though fear may try to fill your heart with sorrow
Take hope from your tomorrow, when it does
Just plead the blood.

THE BLOOD WILL NEVER LOSE IT'S POWER
by Andrae Crouch 1966
(song playing)
The blood that Jesus shed for me
Way back on Calvary
It’s the blood that gives me strength from day to day
It will never lose it’s power
CHORUS
Cause it reaches to the highest mountain
And it flows to the lowest valley
It’s the blood that gives me strength from day to day
It will never lose it’s power
It soothes my doubts and it calms my fears
And it dries all my tears
It’s the blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose it’s power
CHORUS
It will never lose
It will never lose it’s power
It will never lose it’s power
