Psalm 147:5  "Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite."

Isaiah 40:29  "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.'

Luke 10:19  "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

2 Timothy 1:7  "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Superman was born on the Planet Krypton. When his father, Jor-El, realized that the Planet Krypton was doomed, he launched his son into space. Eventually he landed on a small blue-green planet called Earth. The child was adopted by Smallville residents Jonathan and Martha Kent, and was named Clark. The boy grew to be quick and strong, as his Kryptonian cells were converting the Sun's energy into incredible superpowers. After high school, Clark moved to Metropolis, where he worked as a mild-mannered reporter on the Daily Planet. But whenever danger calls, he's only a quick-change away from saving the world as Superman. Superman's strength lies in the fact that the gravity on Krypton was much greater than on Earth.

Lonely orphaned teenager Peter Parker goes to a science fair at MidTown High School. There was a radiation demonstration taking place, but when a spider is infected by the radiation and bites the schoolboy, it changes his life forever. That spider gives Peter the proportionate strength, speed and agility of a spider, as well as the ability to stick to most surfaces through the contact with his hands and feet ... thus becoming - Spiderman!

These characters are only fictional with pretend powers. We have the potential to have real powers. I'm not talking about power to leap tall buildings in a single bound, run faster than a locomotive or fly faster than a speeding bullet. In all probability we will never have a need to do any of those things. I'm talking about spiritual power. We are constantly in a spiritual warfare with Satan. And we are not only in this fight for ourselves but for others as well. Satan is trying to destroy us and everyone around us. Anytime he can cause us to sin, he has won a victory. Anytime he can cause us to slip up in front of someone else he has won a victory. Our children sit and watch their superheroes perform daring feats and cheer them on to victory. What if one of those heroes make a mistake? What if they slip over to the enemy's side for just a few moments? What would happen if they forgot who they were and said a few bad words, kicked the dog or hit a child, after all, they were just having a bad day - isn't everyone allowed a bad day every now and then? Think how devastated all the little hero worshippers around the world would be after watching a movie like that! Well here is a news flash! There are people all around you who are watching your life just as closely! And when you fail them, they are just as devastated. They will go home and say, "I knew they weren't really a Christian!" That is why it is so important for you to constantly stay plugged into your source of power. Without that power it is impossible for you to go through a whole day without slipping up somehow. Only with the power of Christ inside you can you resist the powers of Satan. Christ is the only real superhero! Only with His power can you conquer evil.

The Lord gives "power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength." Sometimes I feel like all my strength is gone. I feel like Superman when he has come in contact with Kryptonite. I just feel like I don't have any strength left to fight. That's when I need power from the Lord. Sometimes I need power over the enemy and sometimes I need power over the serpents and scorpions of the world that might do me harm. But whatever I need the power for, the Lord will provide if I will just ask! The only problems is - sometimes I forget to ask. I just drag along for days feeling tired and weak. I say things like, "How much more of this can I take." Or, "Will it never end." We often drag our problems around much longer than we need to. We have the strength to solve them. We have the power to overcome. All we have to do is tap into that power. You see, God gave us the power of a "sound mind" - we just don't always think to use it!

John 1:12  "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

So how do you tap into this great power? Some go to church, some go to a temple and others go to the mountains but there is really only one place you can find this great power - down on your knees. You don't have to actually physically be on your knees but you do have to be on your knees spiritually to tap into the power of God! Only through prayer can you find the kind of power that will give you the strength you need to triumph over Satan and the world today. Down on your knees you can find the power to become a child of God and if you are already a child of God you can find the power to remain a child of God. Down on your knees you can find the power to remain in the world yet be set apart from the world. Down on your knees you can find the peace of mind that alludes the rest of the world. Only down on your knees can you find the power that can set you free from the rest of the world. Only down on your knees can you find the power to fight the works of darkness and walk in the light! Yes, I go to church. Yes, I believe you could find it peaceful on top of a mountain. But we don't have to wait until we go to church and we don't have to climb a mountain to tap into the power of God! The very next time you face a problem, don't wait a week to ask God to help you with it. Don't wait until it becomes as big as Mt. Rushmore. Ask Him right away to help you. Pray about everything in your life! You have power that you've never even dreamed about right at your finger tips every day if you would only use it. Try it for just one week. All I ask - if your life changes - please let me know!

Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."
