Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Isaiah 48:17 "Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go."

I was sitting in the doctor's office the other day when I noticed a map on the back of the door. Written in red in the box of the room where I was waiting were the words "YOU ARE HERE". My eyes traced the path I had taken to get to that room and then I noticed the emergency exits. This map started me to thinking about the map of my life.

YOU ARE HERE - But where exactly is here and where did I come from? What paths did I take to get here? What is my final destination and what paths will I take to reach it? Am I going in circles? And, most important of all, WHERE ARE THE EMERGENCY EXITS?

I don't really want to know what the final destination of my life will be but I would like to know that I will reach the final destination that God has planned for my life! I would also like to know that I am not running around in circles getting nowhere! And, the only way I can know that is to allow God to lead me. Now, mind you, God does not speak to me every time I have a decision to make and tell me what to do! He does not audibly answer each question I have. He will not stop me from doing something foolish. So how can I know which way to go from here?

For one thing, I can ask myself the question, "Would God be pleased with the road I am on?" Would He be pleased with the paths I have traveled to get to where I am today? What could I have done differently - better - and where might I be today if I had taken door number two?

We always have a choice. Sometimes even more than two roads lie before us. It would be so much easier if we could see ahead and know what lies along each road but we can't. I believe God gives us instincts and I also believe we fail to pay attention to these instincts. We know to do good but maybe we want something else. We ignore what we know, what we feel is right, and let our fleshly nature take over. It's these times that we aren't letting God lead us. God gave each of us a conscience. He wants us to make wise choices. But we get caught up in life - in the moment - and ignore that inner knowledge of right and wrong. That's when we usually wind up taking the wrong road.

It's not too late to turn your life around. You can never actually go back the way you came and right all the wrong turns but you can take the Emergency Exit from where you are now and get on a different road - go through a different door - choose a different path!

GOD LEADS HIS DEAR CHILDREN ALONG

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water's cool flow bathes the weary one's feet,
God leads His dear children along.

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.

Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.

Away from the mire, and away from the clay,
God leads His dear children along;
Away up in glory, eternity's day,
God leads His dear children along.

Some thru the waters, some thru the flood,
Some thru the fire, but all thru the blood;
Some thru great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.
