MATTHEW 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." What is a pure heart? How can you know your heart is pure? Something that is pure is clean, uncontaminated. The only pure person that ever lived was Jesus. The only way our hearts can be pure is if Jesus abides there. The only person who has ever seen God is Jesus. The only way we can see God is through Jesus with our hearts. So who will see God? Only the ones who have Jesus living in their hearts. PSALMS 24:3-4 "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." Only those who have clean hands and a pure heart will make it to heaven. This means only people who are honest in their dealings with others. There will be no decietfulness or vain souls in that Holy Place. If you have a pure heart, you will have clean hands. I TIMOTHY 1:5 "Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:" If your heart is pure, you will be charitable. You will show love toward others no matter their race, their backgrounds or their beliefs. I realize some people are hard to love but we must still show compassion to them when they need charity. Afterall, if Jesus had only loved the loveable, where would that leave us? We cannot see God if we are constantly seeing faults in others. If we keep our eyes on Him, we will not so readily see others shortcomings. A pure heart tries to see good in others. It does not seek out the bad things in the world. It dwells on that which is good and uplifting. I PETER 1:22 "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:" This pretty much says it all. If your heart is pure, your soul is pure, you are living in obedience to the Spirit of God and loving one another with a genuine, unfeigned love that can only come from a pure heart. We need to be very careful what we allow to enter into our hearts. Satan is always looking for ways to put evil thoughts in our heads but we do not have to allow him access to our hearts. Only we can allow these thoughts to enter our hearts and take root. Guard your heart very carefully and keep it pure if you want to see God someday!
