"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
This week we are going to find out what motivates us. This will be a very individual
thing! What works for one may not work for another. For example: If I want to give my house
a good cleaning, all I have to do is invite people over for a dinner party. No matter how
busy I am, I'll find time to clean before hand! But people visiting you when your house is a
mess may not bother you, so we have to find out what does bother you!
Are you overweight? What would motivate you to lose five pounds this week? A lunch date with
an old friend you haven't seen for awhile? How about thoughts of a family holiday gathering or
a spouse's office party? Whatever it is, get out your journal and write it down. (I once hung
a too small suit I wanted to wear on the bathroom door for motivation.) So, what ever
works, DO IT!
WHAT IS IT YOU WANT TO DO?
Do you want to stop using your charge card on unnessary items?
LEAVE IT AT HOME!
Write out a list of reasons you do not want to use plastic and place it in your
wallet where you usually carry your card. Next time you are tempted, take out your list and
Would you like to stop smoking?
GO BUY A PATCH!
There are several to choose from.
But you HAVE to go to the store and buy one!
If you want to improve (and this is a 12 week improvement program), you
absolutely have to take some kind of action toward accomplishing your goals.
If you've been doing the program, you've already listed your goals and put them in order of
Go back to that list and choose something you think you could tackle this week. What would
motivate you to get started on this goal now? I want to clean my basement so I told my
husband I needed his help Saturday. He told me what he was going to do Saturday so I
told him how much of his time I needed. (Don't be afraid to assert your needs to the
other people in your household. I'm sure they feel very free to tell you theirs!)
We then set a time on Saturday afternoon when he could help me. I have now set a goal, declared my
intentions to others and established a time to work on it. My husband also reminded me of
some things I needed to do for others but I JUST SAID, "NO"! I told him this
was more important to me. You have to tell others what you want and what you need. They
can't read your mind! And don't let them make you feel guilty for working on something that's
important to you! Our families have a unique way of doing that to us!
Let me know how you do. I'm very interested in your progress!
MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT EXERCISES
Scripture to memorize: Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which
Matthew 16:23 "Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou
savorest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men."
I know this scripture was spoken to Peter by Jesus but I assure you Satan will be right
behind you this week as you try to better yourself! This is the last thing he wants you to do,
so be sure to arm yourself with the scriptures. (It worked for Jesus!)
Are you exercising, watching what you eat, and drinking your water? This week I want you to
add a daily vitamin and, if you are a woman, a calcium supplement.
This week find someone who is sick, depressed or just lonely. Give them a call or send them a
card. It will lift their spirits and yours!
Help a friend be the best they can be.
Mail them this 12 week program!
