WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?MATTHEW 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Week one I asked you, "Just
what is it you hope to accomplish over the next year? The next decade?" This week we are
going to make a list of things we want to do and of things we want to
stop doing.
Now I want you to take that list and pray over it. Ask God if your list matches His. Really,
earnestly pray about this. If you get a good, peaceful feeling, then go for it. Start this
week to take small steps toward fulfilling some of the top goals. If you don't feel good about
some of the things on that list, then wait. Take no action yet, but continue to pray and God
will show you which of your goals are not right for you and what He wants you to
do.
Now that you have discovered what you expect from yourself, I'd like to ask, "What do you expect from God?" Talk to Him! There is no secret formula for talking to God! He is a Friend, so just talk to Him like you would to your best friend. (The difference is He always listens and can always help.) Tell God what you want Him to do for you. Have you ever known a child who wasn't always ready to tell their parents what they needed or wanted? God wants us to go to Him for everything!
So...
2. Cross off unrealistic goals. 3. Put goals in order of importance. 4. Pray about your finished list and tell God what you need Him to help you with. These are your mind and spiritual exercises for this week. Your body exercise is to GET MOVING! I want you to do some form of physical exercise that lasts for 30 minutes three days this week. This can be as simple as taking a walk or as complicated as taking an aerobics class, your choice. Get out one of those dusty exercise tapes or drag out that rusty Exercycle. Just do something for at least 30 minutes. Don't overdo! That can be as bad as not doing anything. We are not out to change the world, just taking small steps toward being better. Let me know how you are doing! I'd love to hear your comments about this program. Just click on the mail button below or leave your comments or questions either in my guestbook or on the message board (see links below).
My God bless you as you look to Him for guidance this week.
