Sometimes we get so involved with life we lose sight of our goals, but more often than not we
get so hung up on the end result we fail to enjoy the journey! Life is a lot like taking a
trip. You save and plan. You get excited as you pack and anticipate where you will go and
what you will do when you get there. But then, when you get there, you often feel let down...
it just isn't as good as you were expecting. Many times, the planning and the anticipation
beforehand is just as much fun as actually arriving! If we get so hung up on what our lives
will be like after a certain event (when I reach this goal, I'll really begin to live)
then we are missing out on a great deal of our lives. We need to learn to enjoy the process of
getting there. Only then can we say we are truly living!
So the answer to, "Are We There Yet?", is NO. We will never be there as long as we are
still alive. If we ever arrived "There", there would be no reason to continue to live!
And if we are looking forward to the time when we do arrive there before we start to
enjoy our lives then we will never enjoy our lives. This is why we need a plan. We
need to decide where we want our lives to go and then plan how best to get there from where we
are right now. Then we need to map out small steps to our destination and enjoy taking each
and every one of those steps because it is the steps that make up our lives! Sure there will
be setbacks, sure there will be problems. These, too, are part of our lives; everyone has them
so expect them. If you don't start out expecting everything to go smoothly then you won't be
so disappointed when something happens to block your plan. Determine that whatever happens,
you will only let it be a temporary block and you are half way home! Everyone gets off track.
The difference between the successful and the unsuccessful is the sucessful get right back on
track after a setback. As long as you are trying to improve, you are a success! Oliver
Goldsmith so rightly said, "Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall."
So as you make out your lists, your goals and your resolutions, be sure you resolve to keep
trying no matter what! Once you have decided on your goals and you have your plan, be sure
you don't forget to enjoy the journey! For THIS IS YOUR LIFE!
I hope you have enjoyed this twelve-week journey with me. We have only one week left and in
this next week I want you to do some soul searching. I want you to look back to where you were
one year ago, then five years ago and then ten and so on. Where are you now and where do you
want to be one, five and ten years from now? What will it take to get there? What are you
willing to give up to get where you want to be? For no one has ever reached a goal without
some kind of sacrifice! Are you willing to turn your life over to God and let Him direct your
steps? Are you willing to confide your dreams to Him and let Him help you with your plan?
Because if you are not willing to include Him in your plan it is doomed before you ever begin
your journey! One other thing: who is likely to stand in the way of your dream? Almost
everyone has someone nearby ready to sabatoge their plans to become better. Know your enemies
but don't confront them! Turn them over to God and let Him take care of them! He knows just
how to handle them. Knowing who they are and some of the things they will probably say and do
will help you immensely. Armed with this knowledge you are better able to withstand their
wiles! Actually rehearse some things you think they might say or do in your mind and decide
how you might deal with them. Be ready for them! Now, armed with your goals and your plan,
knowing your enemies and having God on your side, you are bound to reach your highest
expectations! And having reached your goal, reach higher for something new, for your life is
not the goal but the reaching!
I HOPE YOU ALL KEEP TAKING SMALL STEPS TO BECOME THE BEST YOU CAN BE! PLEASE DON'T STOP TRYING
TO IMPROVE BECAUSE THE TWELVE WEEKS ARE UP! YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A NEW, OBTAINABLE
GOAL YOU ARE REACHING FOR!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AS YOU STRIVE TO
BECOME WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO BE!
LOVE, MEME
